The Gamekeeper

Its how I sometimes feel
Visiting human zoos
Funny bespeckled creatures
Cemented to their chairs
They've broken the chains around their minds
And bolted from cement jungles
Out here by the seaside
Beginning old versions
Of old rituals
Today I saw a rare species
I stood in absolute amazement
Cotton polyester plumage
Incongruent with the black and white
Of its Collingwood football shorts
And from its nest it stalked
Lethal weapon to the ready
And with a panthers deadly pounce
Destroyed a defenseless tree
Limb by limb he made the kill
Looking around all the time
And only then our eyes met
The gamekeeper had caught him out
