As the mythology goes... Los Car Keys were born of a chance meeting on the banks of the Zambezi River, Zimbabwe, where Barry saw the young Peter walking unawares along the banks of that mighty river, dressed in a pure white safari suit and super white pith helmet, with knee high white socks... Barry couldn't believe what he was seeing and... (for the gripping end to this story, and how it links with the band name, please attend the next Los Car Keys gig!).
Barry Heydenrych (guitar, charango, vocals) and Peter Keelan (pan pipes, lekolilo and quena flutes, bombo drum, mouthbow, vocals) first played together in collaboration with the Narasirato Pan Pipers from the Solomon Islands, during their 2007 Australian Tour. They followed this by touring together to launch Peter's film The Pan People Project, which premiered at The Dreaming Festival, Queensland, Kulcha in Perth and in Albany and Denmark; and have continued to fuse their passion for African and South American music with their original songs since that time.
Joined by par excellence classical violinist Marie Limondin, who has played everything from Irish to Brittany music and beyond, alongside Helen Heydenrych playing ukulele and vocals and the passionate lead vocals and guitar of Pete Usher, they birthed Los Car Keys. Playing music which inspires them to wild 'high fiving' on stage, infectious humour, and vibrant and often improvised music, they convey a raw energy and love of music making.
But wait there's more... possibly called The Spare Keys, possibly called "our wonderful friends", Los Car Keys can be joined by the superb vocal harmony duo of Simon Neville and Louise Duxbury. A rich musical feast. Exquisite and sensitive harmonies.

This high-fiving fun crew from Denmark are the new kids on the block, albeit in well worn bodies! Peter Keelan (AC-PVC, Los Chasquis, Whak, Tok Pan Tok) burns his lips on pan pipes and flutes, Barry Heydenrych (33 Trees, Mandala) has flailing fingers on guitar and charango, Marie Limondin (Merida Orchestra, Mandala) infuses wildly on violin with Helen Heydenrych moving and grooving with her ukulele and vocals.
But wait there's more... possibly called The Spare Keys, possibly called "our wonderful friends" Los Car Keys can be joined by the superb vocal harmony trio of Simon Neville, Nada Dashlooty and Louise Duxbury. A rich musical feast. Exquisite and sensitive harmonies.
An original music feast, highly charged with Latin American and African rhythms mixed with South American music, played with Denmarkian zest, style and improvisations.
